Users and Roles

Every person who logs in should have their own user account. Never share logins.

Role Can do
Administrator Everything: settings, plugins, themes, users. Keep this to as few people as possible.
Editor Create, edit, and publish any page or post, including other people’s
Author Write and publish their own posts
Contributor Write their own posts, but can’t publish (an Editor must approve)
Subscriber Log in and manage their own profile only

Plugins can add extra roles (for example Shop Manager for WooCommerce or SEO Manager).

Users → Add New User → fill in username and email → choose a Role → leave Send User Notification checked → Add New User. They’ll get an email to set their own password.

Users → All Users → hover over the user → Delete. WordPress asks what to do with their content, so choose Attribute all content to another user so nothing is lost.

Hover over your name (top right) → Edit Profile. Here you can change your display name, email, and password.
